Thank you to our Community Clean Up Sponsors!

On behalf of the Friends of James Simons, we’d like to thank our sponsors for their financial support for our "Be Cleaner, Go Greener" 3rd Annual Community Clean Up Fundraiser. The funds will be spread evenly across our 4 pillars: professional development, teacher and staff appreciation, student enrichment, and student outreach to better support the needs of our school community. We encourage our JSM community to support these wonderful local businesses who are investing in our kids and community!

Teacher and Staff Support

This year's fundraising focus is on Teacher and staff appreciation and support!  We will be sponsoring teachers for their Montessori continued education programs, making sure they are stocked with all necessary supplies, hosting free yoga after school and loading our library with new books.

This year's teacher outreach has included dinners for the staff before PTA events and the staff holiday party.

Student Outreach

Our Student Outreaching missions have included After school enrichment program scholarships, the start of our free after school running club, Bookfair sponsorships, and the Christmas Dove holiday gift drive. Over $500 donated for Mrs. Bryant and Mrs. Greene to purchase holiday gifts for James Simons students.

New School Year Kicking Off with a Healthy Fun Cookout!

Warm welcome to all the new students and welcome back to our James Simons families, we are very excited to kick off this school year with our annual fall cookout! The James Simons school has partnered with the Charleston Promise Neighborhood organization to put on the "James Simons Uptown Way of Life" health fair and potluck Saturday, September 30th from 2-5 pm at James Simons.  This years event aims to promote healthy living among our community with obstacle course fun, jump castles, Barre and Yoga demos, health screenings, a show case of local restaurants, and more! Along with your help of bringing in a favorite dish to share, we hope to have a great day of fun, food, and friends.

The Greatest Love PTA Family Ball

The PTA has done it again with an amazing night of dancing, food, and friends.

As many of you who attended already know, The Greatest Love Family Ball was a hit this year, from the delicious chicken, green beans, and rice, to the jams that kept the crowd jumping, singing, and laughing with friends. Having a good time comes almost as second nature to the staff, students and parents of this amazing school.  Boys and girls held hands while weaving through crowds of dancing parents and grandparents.  Students enjoyed introducing their parents to their peers and new friends they made that evening.

The night's feast was kicked off by Glory Connolly, who surprised her parents with saying a blessing for the school before dinner service. Stories and jokes were shared, as the James Simons community sat together and enjoyed a Valentine's Day dinner.

A better evening could not have been had, Thank You James Simons PTA!
